Awards have been established in Gary Jennings name at Parry McCluer High School in Buena Vista, Virginia and Eastside High School, Paterson, N. J. These awards do not require continuing education - just an excellence in creative writing in high school, as this represented the end of his formal education. Other grants are in the planning stages.

As you have read, Gary Jennings was known for his extensive research, which often included rigorous and sometimes hazardous travels. During the 12 years he lived in Mexico, he explored every corner and amassed a wealth of information on its people.

During the long period between AZTEC and AZTEC BLOOD, Gary retraced the wanderings of Marco Polo for THE JOURNEYER, joined nine different circuses for SPANGLE and roamed the Balkans before writing RAPTOR. He also managed to get his favorite stories on Crispin Mobey into a book.

At the request of his publisher, he brought out his unused information on Aztec and agreed to write "the rest of the story"… a plan that was to include at least two books.

There is "A NOTE TO THE READER" in the front of AZTEC BLOOD
which states:

Gary Jennings left behind a rich heritage of nov3el ideas and historical fiction when he passed away in l999. Gary Jennings's estate and his editor worked with a carefully selected writer to organize and complete Gary Jennings'' ideas to create this novel, inspired by his storytelling genius, in a manner faithful to Jennings' style.

This web page has received hundreds of comments from fans and readers in which they have offered their comments and appreciation for having the opportunity to read AZTEC BLOOD. Professional reviewers have had great things to say about the book and readers have expressed their comments in areas such as "Amazon.com". With very few exceptions, fans and readers seem very pleased with the book and the manner in which it was completed.

To those of you who have read the book, thanks for your support. To those who haven't, do see what others have said and give it a try.
